MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The United Kingdom must hold a referendum on the provisions of the final Brexit deal, Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron said on Wednesday.
"First and foremost, we demand that the British people should have their say on the final deal in a referendum," Farron said in an article issued by The Guardian.
"And let me be clear: I don’t believe there is any deal that [UK Prime Minister Theresa] May can do that will be better for Britain than being a member of the EU. So when people are given that choice, we will make the case loudly and clearly that we believe Britain should stay in the European Union," Farron added.
On June 23, the United Kingdom held a referendum to determine whether or not the country should leave the European Union. According to the final results, 51.9 percent of voters, or 17.4 million people, decided to support Brexit, while about 16.1 million opposed it.
