WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Former Governor Thomas Kean and Congressman Lee Hamilton headed the US commission that investigated the attacks on September 11, 2001. In 2004, the commission published a report with recommendations for the federal government to implement to improve anti-terror efforts.
"We [Kean and Hamilton] believe the task force that we want to set up here to lay out a new strategy in dealing with terrorism can play a very, very important role in the policy of the US government," Hamilton told reporters on Wednesday.
Both Kean and Hamilton said the US anti-terror strategy should include how to defeat the terrorists’ ideology in addition to military efforts and counter-terrorism investigations.
Sunday marks the 15th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks against the United States.
