MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Nord Stream 2 company will submit a request in two weeks to the Swedish government for carrying out gas pipeline construction works, the company's representative told RIA Novosti on Thursday.
"Nord Stream 2 is planning to submit a request for conducting construction works to the Swedish government in two weeks," he said.
Earlier in the day, Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom said that the government would consider such a request if it was submitted. She also added, that the Swedish government "does not like" the Nord Stream 2 pipeline project, but the are no legal grounds to halt it.
The Nord Stream 2 project aims to deliver up to 55 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Russia to Germany annually via the Baltic Sea. Gazprom has a shareholder agreement to extend the existing Nord Stream with the European energy firms.
