"Near Ar Raqqah, two strikes engaged a Daesh tactical unit and destroyed an oil tanker trailer, an oil workover rig, and a vehicle," the release stated on Thursday. "Near Dayz Az Zawr, one strike destroyed four Daesh oil tanker trucks."
In Iraq, seven airstrikes destroyed Daesh bunkers, vehicles and a weapons storage facility, among other targets, the statement noted.
The Daesh has been designated as a terrorist organization and is outlawed in Russia as well as in numerous other countries around the world.
The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been conducting airstrikes against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria since the summer of 2014. In Syria, however, the coalition is acting without the permission of the country’s legitimate government of President Bashar Assad or the UN Security Council.
