BEIJING (Sputnik) – China strongly opposes the fifth and latest nuclear missile test carried out by North Korea, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said Friday.
"Today, North Korea, despite protests from the international community, once again conducted a nuclear test. The Chinese government strongly opposes this," the ministry said in a statement.
Pyongyang has officially confirmed that it successfully carried out a new nuclear test Friday morning after a seismic event was registered near a test site in the country’s northeast. North Korea's Central News Agency (KCNA) announced the test confirmed that "standardized" nuclear warheads can be mounted on "strategic ballistic rockets."
