MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Wilayat Sinai terror group linked to Daesh and active on Egypt's Sinai Peninsula is plotting a terror attack against Israel, which could happen within six months, The Telegraph newspaper reported, citing an Israeli military officer on Friday.
"It could happen today, tomorrow, in a month but within the next six months we will come into an engagement with Wilayat Sinai… In the next six months they will try to carry out an attack and try to do something against Israel," the officer said on condition of anonymity.
In 2014, Sinai's indigenous militants pledged allegiance to Daesh outlawed in many countries, including Russia and the United States. The self-proclaimed Wilayat Sinai has subsequently claimed responsibility for a number of deadly attacks in the area.
