WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States will donate up to $4.3 billion to the Global Fund through 2019.
"US Deputy Secretary of State Heather Higginbottom will lead the official US government delegation to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria’s Fifth Replenishment Conference, which will be held September 16-17 in Montreal, Canada," the release stated.
Donors, multilateral institutions, civil society representatives and others at the conference will work on mobilizing financial resources to help fight the epidemics, the release noted.
Higginbottom will be joined at the conference by US Global AIDS Coordinator Deborah Birx, Assistant Secretary for the Department of Health and Human Services Jimmy Kolker, and the National Security Council Director of Global and Health Development Sonali Korde.
