WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US Vice President Joe Biden held a telephone conversation with Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto on treating migrants from Central America with dignity, the White House said in a read-out.
"The two leaders discussed the positive bilateral cooperation at Mexico's southern border and the importance of treating migrants from Central America with dignity and respect," the readout stated on Tuesday.
Biden praised Mexico for its support for the advancement of the Northern Triangle of Central America, the White House said.
Biden and Nieto also "discussed new opportunities to promote exchanges between their immigration and border protection agencies," the readout noted.
Moreover, the two officials reaffirmed their efforts to build a hemisphere that was prosperous, democratic and secure, the readout added.
