MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The ceremony was organized by the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday.

"On September 12, Ambassador of the Republic of South Ossetia to Russia Znaur Gassiev at the invitation of President of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry Evgeny Bazhanov took part in the Diplomatic Club. Within the framework of the meeting, Bazhanov presented the first certificates of membership of the club. Along with the ambassador of South Ossetia, the membership of the club was awarded to the UAE and South Korean ambassadors [to Russia]," the statement said.

Gassiev thanked Bazhanov for the great honor, noting that the work at the Diplomatic club would be extremely useful to reflect the foreign policy of the Republic of South Ossetia, relations with diplomatic missions of countries accredited in Russia, and also representatives of the authorities of the host country.

The Diplomatic Club at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry started its work on June 1 after a decade-long break in its activity. The club's Board of Trustees includes Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
