Trump’s campaign spokesperson stated that the maternity leave which will be promised by Donald Trump will be covered by unemployment benefits.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will urge during a policy address on Tuesday the adoption of six week paid maternity leave in the United States, Trump’s campaign spokesperson told reporters.

"We believe we've found a solution on paid maternity leave that could get very broad, bipartisan support and be completely self-financing," the spokesperson stated on Tuesday, as quoted by The Hill.

The spokesperson explained that the maternity leave will be covered by unemployment benefits. The authorities will be able to finance the leave by eliminating unemployment insurance fraud, according to the campaign.

At present, new mothers in the United States get 12 weeks of unpaid leave.

Trump led Democratic rival Hillary Clinton among likely voters nationwide by a 45 to 43 percent margin in a CNN/ORC poll released last week.
