MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Paris police arrested five Syrians on suspicion of illegally storing arms and being part of a criminal group, local media reported Wednesday.
According to the RTL broadcaster, the arrest took place on Tuesday night in the 18th district of the French capital.
The suspects are also reported to have planned a purchase of four Kalashnikov rifles worth 600 euros ($673), according to the media outlet.
France has been hit by a series of terror attacks over the past two years. Following the November 2015 attacks in Paris, France declared a state of emergency, which was further extended for six months in July after a deadly truck attack in the seaside resort of Nice.
