MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The European Union is not at risk following the United Kingdom's decision to leave the bloc, though it regrets such a decision, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said Wednesday.
"We respect and at the same time regret the UK decision, but the European Union as such is not at risk," Juncker said in the annual State of the Union speech.

On June 23, the United Kingdom held a referendum to determine whether or not the country should leave the European Union. According to the final results, 51.9 percent of voters, or 17.4 million people, decided to support Brexit, while about 16.1 million opposed it.
Britain has not yet triggered Article 50 of the of the Lisbon Treaty to start the process of leaving the European Union.
