MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The United Nations hopes to deliver humanitarian aid to eastern Aleppo, Syria, on September 16, Senior Adviser to UN Special Envoy for Syria Jan Egeland said Thursday.
"We hope to go tomorrow in eastern Aleppo," Egeland told reporters.
According to the official, the United Nations is ready to reach besieged areas in Syria before the end of this week, and hopes to receive the governmental permission to do so.
"We are ready to go before the end of the week to other places that we asked the permission for and that were approved in September… However, not a single permit letter has been received," he said.
He added the humanitarian aid would hopefully reach "all the besieged areas close to Damascus and Homs and elsewhere."
