New Delhi (Sputnik) — Russian nationals living in Goa took part in sealing the fate of candidates fighting for a berth in the Duma, Russia’s Lower House of Parliament, on Thursday. Ballot box voting was held at a temporary polling booth in Porvorim village of Goa.
Sergey Lunev, Head of the Mumbai branch of the Russian Trade Representation, and Vice Consul Alexey Strukov were administrated the voting process.
The Russian Consulate in Mumbai said that "Consul General has taken all necessary measure to ensure the rights of the Russian nationals present in Goa to cast their vote."
Usually, voting is undertaken inside the embassy or at Consulate in different cities. But, because thousands of Russians visit Goa for their holidays, special arrangements were made. Around 70 thousand Russian nationals visit Goa every tourist season.
Voting in Russia is scheduled to be held on September 18.
