MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The turnout in the Russian parliamentary elections has almost reached 33 percent as of 15:00 Moscow time [12:00 GMT], the Central Election Commission said Sunday.
"The turnout as of 15:00 is practically 32.88 percent. We think this is a decent figure," Central Election Commission Deputy Chairman Nikolai Bulaev said.
The Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Area, the Tyumen Region and the Republic of Tyva showed the highest turnout rates with 71, 70 and 67.92 percent respectively, according to Bulaev.
More than 111 million eligible voters are electing 450 lawmakers for the next five years. Voting is underway at some 95,000 polling stations across Russia and in diplomatic missions in 145 countries.
