MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to the Russian Defense Ministry, mobile centers handing out hot food remain operational for civilians leaving the city of Aleppo.
"A joint Russia-Belarus humanitarian action took place in an orphanage in a Latakia settlement, during which civilians received blankets and foodstuffs, dry and condensed milk as well as infant formula of total mass of 2.7 metric tons [2.9 US tons]," the center said in a statement published on the website of the Russian Defense Ministry.
Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with government forces fighting numerous opposition groups, as well as terrorist formations, such as the Islamic State militant group, which is prohibited in many countries, including Russia and the United States.
Almost 14 million Syrian people remain in deep need of receiving humanitarian aid, which cannot be delivered due to continuous fighting, according to UN estimates.
