AL QUBBAH (Sputnik) — The Libyan army allied with the eastern-based administration has handed over the control over northern oil ports to the National Oil Corporation (NOC), the parliament speaker told Sputnik on Tuesday.
"The armed forces have implemented all agreements and have actually handed over the control over the ports," Aguila Saleh, the head of the Tobruk-based authority, said.
Eastern Libyan forces loyal to Gen. Khalifa Haftar seized oil ports and terminals in Libya’s oil crescent region last week from the UN-backed rival government of national accord (GNA) in Tripoli.
Saleh stressed that NOC’s control over Libya’s main source of income was in the interest of all people and said that GNA forces who held the ports before them had obstructed crude oil exports.
