Karabakh Settlement Group Co-Chairs to Meet in Moscow Sept. 8
YEREVAN (Sputnik) – French President Francois Hollande reaffirmed on Wednesday his commitment to the Nagorno-Karabakh peace settlement and said that Paris was ready to host the next round of negotiations on the issue.

“Let me reaffirm my commitment to finding a fair and lasting settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. As I had the opportunity to tell you during our Warsaw meeting on July 9, I am ready to host a meeting in Paris with a view to consolidating the ongoing peace process and discussing measures for the advancement of this extremely lengthy conflict,” Hollande said in a letter to his Armenian counterpart Serzh Sargsyan sent on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s independence.

Azerbaijan's Armenians-dominated breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh proclaimed its independence in 1991. After the military conflict ended in 1994, Azerbaijan lost control over the region.

Violence erupted in Nagorno-Karabakh on April 2, and led to multiple casualties. The parties to the conflict signed a Russian-brokered ceasefire on April 5, but mutual accusations have not stopped so far.
