"We have received that license and remain in talks with Iran Air based on the MOA [Memorandum of Agreement]," Boeing said. "Any final sales agreement would have to adhere to the license we’ve been issued."
In March, the US Department of the Treasury announced that the United States has issued a general license authorizing US persons to enter into contacts to sell commercial passenger aircrafts, parts and services to Iran.
In February, Boeing received a license from the US government to begin talks with Iranian airlines after nuclear-related sanctions against Tehran were lifted in January.
In June, Boeing reached a Memorandum of Agreement with Iran Air on jets sales and applied for the US government license that would allow the company to complete the deal.
Iran reached a nuclear agreement with the P5+1 group of countries, among which the United States, to maintain the peaceful nature of its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.
