WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – Support among likely voters in the US military for Libertarian Party presidential candidate Gary Johnson is now on par with that for Republican nominee Donald Trump, a poll by Military Times released on Wednesday shows.
“Conducted in September, it is the first scientific breakdown of voting preferences among service members,” a press release accompanying the poll explained. “It shows a very different race than the one playing out on the broader national stage.”
Across the United States’ armed forces, Trump leads Johnson, 37.6 percent to 36.5 percent, which is within the survey’s 2 percent margin of error.
Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton finished a distant third, with support from 16.3 percent of military respondents, the poll found.
