Russia's Kizhi island is an ethnographic memorial museum reserve, rich in history and architecture. It is one of the largest open-air museums in Russia as well as the world heritage site of UNESCO. Kizhi is in the republic of Karelia.
An eight legged wooden windmill is located in the village of Volkostrov. This unique mill was designed and built by a local peasant, Nikolai Bikanin, in 1928.
