TASHKENT (Sputnik) – All four registered political parties of Uzbekistan have been allowed to take part in the presidential elections in the country, the chairman of the country’s Central Election Commission Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalomov said Friday.
"Today, authorized representatives of the Liberal Democratic Party, National Revival Democratic Party, People's Democratic Party and Justice Social Democratic Party have been given registration certificates," Abdusalomov said.
The December 4 elections come after the death of long-time Uzbek leader Islam Karimov, who died earlier this month at the age of 78. Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyoyev was named acting president until the next elections.
