Currently, Azerbaijan's laws stipulate that presidential candidates must not be younger than 35 years old.
The pre-referendum campaign must wrap up on Sunday after lasting for 23 days as defined by the law. Campaigning will have to stop by 8 a.m. local time (04:00 GMT).
A total of 29 constitutional amendments will be voted on in the country's third referendum since independence. These deal with issues including human rights and the powers vested in government bodies. A turnout of at least 25 percent is required for the referendum to be legitimate and a simple majority will be sufficient for the amendments to pass.
