WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation has won an almost quarter of a billion dollar US Navy contract for two CH-53K demonstration heavy airlift helicopters, the Department of Defense announced.
"Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation [of] Stratford, Connecticut, is being awarded [a] $232 million… contract for… two CH-53K system demonstration test article aircraft," the announcement stated on Friday.
Work on the contract is expected to be completed in February 2020, the announcement added.
The CH-53 Sea Stallion heavy-lift transport helicopter was first developed for use by the US Marine Corps, and is also in service with Germany, Iran, Israel and Mexico.
