WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On Thursday, Yahoo announced that a state-sponsored actor had hacked its information systems in 2014, stealing information from some 500 million users, which immediately prompted a class-action law suit against the internet giant.
It was unclear if the hack Yahoo announced on Thursday was related to the alleged Russia-tied attack, The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing a person familiar with the matter.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) did not respond to a request for comments, the report added.
Yahoo noted that it is cooperating with law enforcement agencies concerning the hack.
