Double Standards: 'WADA Needs to Change Its Rules'
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On September 21, WADA President and IOC member Craig Reedie said that the IOC had proposed to establish a new anti-corruption and anti-doping organization that would be independent from WADA.

"It has become more obvious that we have to look at the WADA system… In the IOC Session [in Rio de Janeiro last month], we decided that the IOC will ask for a full review of the WADA anti-doping system in order to make it more robust, more efficient, more transparent and more harmonious," Bach said speaking at the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) as quoted by the Inside The Games outlet.

The doping scandal, simmering since 2014, escalated in July when WADA presented a report accusing Russia of running a state-wide doping program and urging the IOC to consider a blanket ban on the entire Russian team. The IOC instead opted to let individual sports federations decide on the matter.

In turn, the International Paralympic Committee banned all Russian Paralympic athletes from the 2016 Summer Paralympics and 2018 Winter Games.
