MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Saturday, members of the Party of the Danes handed out 137 cans of "asylum spray’" to the locals in Haderslev, the Anadolu news agency reported.
“We are tackling an actual problem in our society, where many Danes feel unsafe, partially because there are so many migrants in the country and partially because one isn’t allowed to defend oneself,” Daniel Carlsen, the leader of the party, said as quoted by agency, citing TV Syd channel.
Last year, Denmark received more than 21,000 asylum seekers. Following a series of measures to toughen Denmark’s approach to immigration, the number of refugees attempting to enter the country has declined, with 5,305 registered in the first seven months of 2016, according to the data of the Ministry of Immigration, Integration and Housing.
