WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump should become the next US president, National Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Council President Chris Crane announced in an endorsement on Monday.
"We can fix our broken immigration system, and we can do it in a way that honors America’s legacy as a land of immigrants, but Donald Trump is the only candidate who is willing to put politics aside so that we can achieve that goal," Crane stated.
The council’s president noted that out of some 5,000 members of the union, only five percent supported Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
Crane claimed that Clinton’s immigration agenda has been created "with the same collection of special interests and open-borders radicals" responsible for current US immigration "disaster."
Trump has been campaigning on a pledge to stop illegal immigration from the south by building a fence on the border at Mexico’s expense.
The first US presidential debate of the 2016 election season is set for Monday night at Hofstra University in the state of New York.
ICE is responsible for immigration laws enforcement within the United States.
