Strong 5.7-Magnitude Quake Hits Japanese Island of Okinawa
06:02 GMT 26.09.2016 (Updated: 13:07 GMT 09.02.2023) A strong 5.7-magnitude earthquake shook Japan’s Okinawa Island on Monday, however no tsunami warning was issued following the quake, the local meteorological service said.
TOKYO (Sputnik) – According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the earthquake occurred some 40 kilometers (25 miles) below the sea surface with the epicenter located just off the shore of the main island of the Okinawa archipelago.
There have been no reports of immediate damage or casualties so far.
