MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The arrests were made during a special operation in the cities of Murcia and Valladolid, the Europa Press agency said citing the country's Interior Ministry.
One of the arrested was allegedly radicalized online and planned to join Daesh. He was previously detained by Turkish police before crossing the border but released. He returned to Spain where he intended to join the ranks of the terror organization, the agency said.
The second man was helping him to plan a trip to Syria, where the arrested was due to meet one of Daesh fighters and receive weapons and explosives to conduct terror attacks in Spain.
Following the Madrid train bombings in 2004, Spanish security forces have already conducted 181 anti-terror operations and made over 690 arrests.
