VIENNA (Sputnik) — Russia's Rosatom nuclear agency CEO Sergei Kirienko and Tunisian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Slim Khalbous have signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of nuclear energy usage for peaceful purposes in Vienna.
"We are glad we have signed an agreement with Russia, hope it will enhance our ties," Khalbous said.

The agreement creates a legal basis for bilateral cooperation between Russia and Tunisia in the field of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, including creating and improving Tunisia's nuclear infrastructure in accordance with the international recommendations.
The agreement also aims at boosting cooperation in the development of uranium deposits and in exploration of Tunisia's natural resources.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 60th International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference.
