The US-led coalition carried out 20 airstrikes on Monday on Daesh targets in Syria and Iraq, the US Combined Joint Task Force Operation Inherent Resolve said in a press release.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In Syria, the airstrikes were waged near six locations, including Raqqa, Manbij, Abu Kamal, and Mara, and destroyed two Daesh oil well heads, three oil pump jacks, five oil tanker trucks, a vehicle, a front loader, three improvised explosive devices, and four fighting positions.

“In Syria, coalition military forces conducted nine strikes using attack aircraft against ISIL [Daesh] targets,” the release said on Tuesday.

The airstrikes in Iraq were launched in eight areas, including Mosul, Ramadi, Hit and Sinjar, and destroyed six vehicles, a rocket rail, and an ammunition cache, according to the release.

“Additionally in Iraq, coalition military forces conducted 11 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq using attack, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets.”

The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been conducting anti-Daesh airstrikes in Syria and Iraq since 2014. The airstrikes in Syria, however, are not authorized by the legitimate Syrian authorities or by the UN Security Council.
