WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — "General Electric is being awarded a $147,962,000 performance-based logistics requirements contract for repair, replacement and program support of 35 F404 engine components of F/A-18 A-D aircraft," the release stated on Tuesday.
The F/A-18 A model was the first US strike-fighter. The B series is used primarily for training and the C version employs updated missiles and jamming devices against enemy ordnance, according to the Defense Department.
The F/A-18 D model is the current Navy aircraft for attack, tactical air control, forward air control and reconnaissance squadrons.
General Electric is expected to complete work by March 2019, the release noted.
