WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Triton will support a wide range of missions for the US Navy, including maritime intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance patrol; signals intelligence; search and rescue; and communications relay, the Defense Department noted.
"Northrop Grumman Systems is being awarded [a] $255.2 million… contract for the procurement [of] three… MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft, one main operation control station, one forward operation control station, training courseware and tooling," the release stated on Tuesday.
Production of the Triton will take place in a dozen US states and Canada, and will be completed in August 2020, according to the announcement.
