MOSCOW (Sputnik) – According to the statement, seven rescuers and one unit of equipment have been sent out to look for the climbers.
"At 23:35 Moscow time [20:35 GMT] on Wednesday we were notified that on Mount Elbrus, at a height of 3,100 meters [about 10,171 feet], below the Hotutau pass, a group of four climbers had gotten lost," the Kabardino-Balkaria branch of the Russian Emergencies Ministry said in a Thursday statement.
The Hotutau is an ice plateau southwest of Mount Elbrus.
