VIENNA (Sputnik) – Earlier this week, in the course of the 60th General Conference of the IAEA held in Vienna, the Rosatom institute was awarded the IAEA nuclear reactor research center certificate.
"We are grateful to the IAEA for assigning the Research Institute of Atomic Reactors this high status … We invite the IAEA secretariat and the Agency’s member states to use the richest technical and intellectual potential of the Institute to conduct joint research and international projects," Pershukov told RIA Novosti.
The Dimitrovgrad institute is Russia’s largest nuclear research facility, also being one of the largest in the world. It encompasses six nuclear research reactors. Another reactor currently being built at the site — the world’s most powerful fast-neutron reactor MBIR – is set to become operational in 2020.
