US Defense Intelligence Agency Orders More Computing for Missile Space Center

The COLSA Corporation has received more than $100 million contract to provide scientific computing to support the work of the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Missile and Space Intelligence Center (MSIC), the Department of Defense announced.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The contract will provide "scientific computing for analysis technical support" to advance the work of the Missile and Space Intelligence Center, the announcement said.

"COLSA [of] Huntsville, Alabama, was awarded… $103 million over a five-year ordering period," the announcement stated on Wednesday.

The Center provides technical intelligence to Defense Department planners and decision makers, including analytical network, modeling and simulation computer systems operations, high performance computer system operations and hardware and software maintenance, according to the Defense Department.

The Center also provides US field commanders, weapon system developers and policy makers with scientific and technical intelligence on surface-to-air and short-range ballistic missiles with ranges less than 1000 kilometers (600 miles), the Defense Department added.

The COLSA Corporation, founded in 1980, provides engineering and support services to the US Army, Air Force, Navy, NASA as well as the Defense Intelligence Agency and Missile Defense Agency.
