WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The press secretary claimed that US authorities "haven't seen that kind of cooperation from the Russians and it's take a significant toll on their international credibility."
"Our hope was that through diplomacy, we would be able to help Russia chart a path out of that quandary and in the direction of working effectively with the United States and our coalition partners," Earnest said as quoted by the White House pool.
On Tuesday, US Department of State spokesperson Mark Toner told reporters that Washington was still interested in pursuing implementation of the ceasefire in Syria.
US Secretary of State John Kerry told Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday that the United States is prepared to suspend bilateral engagement with Russia in Syria unless Moscow takes immediate steps to end Syrian operations in the city of Aleppo and reinstate a ceasefire.
Fighting in Aleppo intensified last week after the Syrian army declared an end to the week-long US-Russian brokered ceasefire, blaming militants for numerous violations that made the cessation of hostilities unreasonable.
