The majority of German media, not all of them of course, but ideologically leading outlets such as public TV network ARD and its program Tagesschau are closely interconnected with trans-Atlantic interests. They are creating new images of enemies to frighten the German public, he told Sputnik.
"It is particularly sadly for me as I have been participating in the peace protection movement since the 1950s. This is one of the reasons why I keep taking part in this. A new image of Russia as an enemy is being drawn up in the conflict between the East and the West and the Syrian conflict is being used to facilitate this," he explained.
The problem is that all of the propaganda which is being used in the Syrian conflict is being blindly adopted by Germany, he added.
"For example, if John Kerry claims that Russia is bombing the east of Aleppo calling it barbarism, the same is being repeated by the German federal government, ARD, German newspapers without any backward glance at what might be the real truth and at the fact that barbarism in Syria could be seen virtually everywhere," the expert said.
Barbarism could be seen in the action of the so-called militants, Daesh, al-Nusra, and in the actions of the Syrian army, he said.
"It is a hellish mixture. But if Kerry has put it this way, Germany will simply repeat it."
"This is some kind of postscript to propaganda. We in Germany are directly connected to what is being said in the US."
The recent revelation by German author, journalist and politician Jürgen Todenhöfer about the US support of al-Qaeda came as a slap in the face to the majority of the German media which claim that the West allegedly supports only devout rebels who are fighting against Assad, he said.
However it becomes evident that the Western allies – Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait are directly connected with the al-Qaeda affiliate which, in turn, openly expresses its sympathy towards the US.
It only shows that the West has no idea who it is cooperating with. Their only requirement is that they should fight against Assad and Russia.
"I would like to note that I am not familiar enough with the activity of Assad to be able to evaluate the real need for the Western aggression. However what I know is that all the attempts to topple the regime in Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan led to the greater destruction and murders than before the western interference," the expert noted.
"If I were a responsible politician and my name was Obama or Merkel, I would have been obliged to foresee all the consequences before supplying any arms or instigating war. However we apparently pursue other principles than the politicians," he finally stated.
