Obama Administration 'Did Everything' to Destroy Trust Between Russia, US
15:11 GMT 03.10.2016 (Updated: 11:16 GMT 06.08.2022) President Barack Obama's administration has done its outmost to destroy the atmosphere of trust between Russia and the United States, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Monday.
"The Obama administration did everything to destroy the atmosphere of trust which could foster [bilateral] cooperation," the ministry said.
As an example, the ministry cited the so-called Magnitsky Act which initiated "an unprecedented sanction pressure on our country on far-fetched pretexts."

In 2014, relations between Russia and the West deteriorated amid the crisis in Ukraine. Brussels, Washington and their allies imposed several rounds of sanctions on Russia over Crimea's secession from Ukraine and Moscow's alleged meddling in the Ukrainian conflict. Russia has repeatedly refuted the accusations, and warned that the sanctions are counterproductive and undermine regional and global stability.
