KIEV (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, Andriy Parubiy, the speaker of Ukraine's parliament, said he wanted to renew a debate on reinstating the visa regime with Russia.
"The immediate introduction of the visa regime with Russia is not just a security measure, it is a matter of urgent need, caused by provocative actions by the aggressor state," Shkiryak wrote on his Facebook page.
According to Leonid Slutsky, the chairman of the Russian parliamentary committee on the Commonwealth of Independent States and Eurasian integration, the new debate on reinstating the visa regime with Russia means that Kiev is again seeking to raise tensions between the two countries.
Sergei Zheleznyak, a Russian lawmaker, said earlier in the day that Moscow would undertake counter measures, if Kiev introduced the visa regime with Russia.
