Masry dons her sportswear, fixes her hijab and heads to the fitness club, located in the center of the Gaza city. She believes physical exercise is very important for health.
She is following her dream to one day take part in an international sports competition.
In an interview with Sputnik Arabic, Masry said that she has been engaged in sports since childhood. She grew up swimming, long-distance running and has participated in many competitions, winning a lot of awards in the UAE, before she moved to live and study in Gaza.
“I am currently focused on the practice of self-defense and resistance. It is a high intensity functional exercise that develops muscle strength and flexibility,” Masry said.
Currently, Masry is working on creating a special fitness center for women, where various sports training, physical therapy and nutrition will be the main focus.
She noted that “the level of sports infrastructure in the Gaza Strip is weak and requires a lot of development.”
“My dream is to participate in international [sports] championships, as well as conferences and courses outside the Gaza Strip because competitions and sporting events in the sector are very limited,” Masry said.
She further said that after graduation, she plans to finish her master's degree on the topic of rehabilitation after sports injuries.
The sportswoman also expressed gratitude to her parents, who share her passion for sports and always encouraged her.
“During exams, I cannot go to the gym so I train at home, where I have set up a mini gym, so as not to interrupt my trainings,” Masry said.
