Thouless, Haldane, Kosterlitz Awarded Nobel Prize in Physics
David Thouless, Duncan Haldane and Michael Kosterlitz have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics on Tuesday for theoretical discoveries in phases of matter transition.
MOSCOW/STOCKHOLM (Sputnik) — The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said the three laureates "opened the door on an unknown world where matter can assume strange states" on topological phase transitions and topological phases of matter.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to be held in Stockholm on December 10, the anniversary of founder Alfred Nobel.
