At least 10 people sustained serious wounds, Istanbul governor Vasip Sahin said adding that the blast was caused by a bomb planted on a motorcycle.
"As a result of the explosion of a parked motorcycle, 10 people were wounded… The police are looking for a suspect who fled the scene on a different motorcycle," Sahin told reporters as broadcast on the NTV television channel.
Ambulances have been dispatched to the scene. The explosion damaged nearby buildings. Police are looking for a suspect.
