WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Three Canadian military ships — the Brandon, Edmonton and Kingston — are sailing to the Caribbean to take part in a multinational drills on seizing drug shipments at sea, Canada’s Defense Ministry announced in a press release on Thursday.
“This cooperation with 14 like-minded nations to stem flows of illicit drugs on the international sea lanes is a valuable contribution to regional stability,” maritime forces commander Rear Adm. John Newton said in the release.
Following readiness training at-sea, the ships will join the drill in coming days, the release explained.
