TALLINN (Sputnik) — The main objective of civilian population protection is to increase people’s awareness of dangerous situations and to train them in preparing for possible crises, according to the Eesti Paevaleht newspaper.
"Good preparation of citizens can prevent attacks," Margo Klaos, the head of civilians’ protection group established by the Ministry of Interior and the Government Office, was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
The government develops programs to prepare people, local authorities and state institutions for energy supply and communications disruption and other emergency situations. In accordance with the program, recommendations on the supplies each family should have in case of a crisis will be issued.
A draft concept is expected to be introduced in early 2017.
