MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Local forces' support during the imminent military operation aimed at liberation of the Iraqi city of Mosul from the Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) terror group is highly important, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Friday.
Cavusoglu said during a press conference with his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo y Marfil that support of local forces would ease the fight against Daesh, the Daily Sabah daily reported.
The minister added that Turkey was ready to provide the US-led coalition with any necessary support.
Mosul, the second biggest Iraqi city, as well as a number of other northern and western Iraqi cities and towns was seized in 2014 during an offensive of the Daesh extremists, outlawed in Russia.
