"The key aim of my visit [to Greece] was the preparation of the forthcoming visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Greece in early November," Meshkov told the journalists.
Earlier this month, Meshkov said that Lavrov could visit Greece "in the coming weeks."
Meshkov added that he held productive meetings with the Greek foreign minister Nikos Kotzias and Secretary General of the Greek foreign ministry Dimitrios Paraskevopoulos to discuss the relations between Russia and Greece in the light of the global economic situation and sanctions imposed on Moscow.
Meshkov stressed Russia's readiness to promote bilateral cooperation, namely, in the sphere of investment.
According to Meshkov, the meetings also covered situations in Syria and Ukraine and revealed the high level of mutual understanding.
