MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Police in the eastern German city of Chemnitz are investigating a "static threat" on Saturday, having evacuated residents of one of the city's districts.
"At the moment we have a static threat in Fritz Heckert district in Chemnitz, C0810 and have deployed a large force at the scene," Saxony police posted in their official Twitter account.
Police asked locals to avoid the area and abstain from sharing photos and videos of the operation on social media. District residents were asked to remain inside and follow police instructions.
"We are currently carrying out a large scale operation in Chemnitz on suspicion of a bomb attack preparation," they also tweeted.
Police added that they stormed one of the buildings but the person of interest was not found.
