MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The decision on whether to build new capacities at either largest country's airport of Heathrow that already has two runways or the second busiest airport of Gatwick will be announced later in October, the Sky News broadcaster reported, citing a spokesman for UK Prime Minister Theresa May.
The airports in the south of the United Kingdom are facing difficulties, as they are running out of capacity. In order to solve the problem, country's authorities suggested a number of options, including improvement of capabilities in either Heathrow or Gatwick.
The government's plans include possible construction of one more runway in Gatwick or Heathrow, as well as the lengthening of an existing runway in the biggest UK airport.
